Tritons add pair of silver trophies | News, Sports, Jobs

COUNCIL BLUFFS — The Iowa Central track and field team secured two silvers here Sunday at the Region XI Championships.

Iowa Western swept the men’s and women’s team titles, with the Tritons placing second.

Britney Brown captured the 400, finishing in 55.10, with Yared Kidane continuing his strong spring by earning gold in the 1,500 in 3:49.92 and silver in the 800.

Hunter Klimek led a 1-2 finish in the Steeplechase for the Tritons, winning in 9:21.86 with teammate Robin Aguilar Gonzalez right behind him.

Aspel Kiprob picked up a first in the 10,000 in 32:42.83 and first in the 5,000 in 14:32.29 with James MacKey Jr. winning the discus with a throw of 53.32m. MacKey was second in the shot put and also third in the hammer.

Nyadhol Tihichiot went 11.79m to place first in the triple jump.

Jade Durfey (2.15m) and Aries Scott (3.30m) won the pole vault events, with Collins second to Scott. Collins was also third in the high jump.

Iowa Central also won both 4×800 relays and Scott was first in the decathlon with Camron Ventura placing third.

Chloe Garcia Grafing placed second in the 1,500 and Taylor McCreedy was the Steeplechase runner-up. Josie Stackis placed third in the same event and Emma Seidl was the shot put runner-up.

Adeyah Brewster and Terry McNeill Jr. each placed third in the 100 hurdles. McCreedy was third in the 800 and Brown added a third in the 200.

The NJCAA Track and Field Championships are set for May 19-21 in Hutchinson, Kan.
