Most professionals these days want to go for a laptop which is high on both features and looks. Asus has a history of making some really good business laptops which are a mix of new-age design language and powerful specifications. The recently launched Asus Expertbook B5 Flip excels in both departments. The business convertible offers powerful innards and will also impress you with its sleek design. We used the device for some time and here’s our complete review.

Design
Asus is one company which is known for making some really sleek and good-looking business laptops. With the ExpertBook B5 Flip, the company has once again proved it can bring together style and productivity in one machine. The stylish design of the ExpertBook makes it stand out in the crowded business laptop market. The lightweight laptop and compact laptop weigh 1.30 kg and you can easily carry the device in your backpack or briefcase. The laptop is quite robust and it comes with an aluminium case. The device also comes with military-grade certification which offers extra strength to the device and makes it withstand falls and drops. Asus ExpertBook B5 Flip is a convertible and it comes with a 360-degree hinge design which enables users to use the laptop in different orientations. We got the Star Black colour variant of the laptop which looks classy and elegant. The laptop comes with a smooth and glossy finish and its brushed exterior also keeps fingerprints at bay.

Asus ExpertBook B5 Flip offers all the essential ports that one wants in a laptop. The convertible offers two USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 and an HDMI port located on the left. The right houses a USB Type-A port and an HDMI port as well as a combo audio jack. The power button is also located on the right and doubles as a fingerprint reader.

Keyboard and trackpad
Like all the other Asus ExpertBook laptops, this one also offers a comfortable and easy keyboard. The Asus ExpertBook B5 Flip comes with a chiclet-style backlit keyboard. The keyboard faces inwards, this means that when you want to use the laptop in tablet mode, the keys will not get damaged as they are pushed slightly inwards. The keys are spaced out well and they offer a travel distance of 1.5mm. The dish-shaped indentation of the keyboard subtly guides the user’s fingers onto the keys and the long key travel provides better feedback. Along with a highly functional keyboard, the Asus ExpertBook B5 Flip comes with NumberPad 2.0, which is an LED-illuminated numeric keypad integrated into the touchpad that makes up for the lack of physical numeric keypads in compact laptops. A single-touch sensor at the top-right of the touchpad turns NumberPad on and off, and a tap on the icon at the top left lets you choose one of two brightness levels. You can also swipe from the top left icon in any direction on the NumberPad 2.0 to activate the Calculator app on the main display.

Coming to the trackpad, the Asus ExpertBook B5 Flip offers a quite large trackpad. With pretty good precision and haptics, the trackpad offers a smooth touch experience thanks to its glass coating. The trackpad also supports Windows 10 multi-touch and multi-gesture input with up to 4-finger gestures, making it easy to switch applications or screens. The trackpad registers all the touches well and you will not face any issues with its functioning.

Performance
Asus ExpertBook B5 Flip comes in multiple configurations and our review unit was powered by an 11th Generation Intel Core i7 processor paired with Intel’s Xe graphics. The device packs 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD space. The laptop has also received Intel’s Evo certification which certifies it as a productivity machine. During our testing, the business laptop performed as per our expectations. The convertible worked smoothly with no visible lag. It can easily handle routine tasks well and you can also enjoy some heavy duty games on the laptop with ease. To sum it up, Asus ExpertBook B5 Flip offers pretty much everything that one wants from a business laptop. Along with this, the 2-in-1 will also impress you with its audio performance. The audio output was quite loud but it lacks the bass element. The device also features an HD webcam which comes with a privacy shutter. The webcam performed well during video calls.

Coming to the software, Asus ExpertBook B5 Flip runs Windows 10 operating system, but the device can be upgraded to Windows 11. The laptop also comes with various software utilities such as Control Center and Business Manager. The Control Centre from Asus is a centralized IT-management suite that is capable of remote management. On the other hand, the Business Manager allows you to update the BIOS and software and also manage the power consumption.
