BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League was selected as a finalist for three 2022 College Sports Media Awards when the nominees were announced by The Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
The Patriot League is a finalist for Outstanding Live Game Production, Outstanding Special Feature and Outstanding Program Series within the Collegiate Conferences and Governing Bodies.
“I’m extremely proud of our crew here this year,” Johnson said. “We hired Maria Trivelpiece in August to join the team as our multimedia journalist, and she stepped right in to make a great impact on our Patriot League Productions. It shows in this year’s Outstanding Special Feature finalist. I’m also happy for our Patriot League on ESPN interns, Kostas Kourahanis and Braden Barker, who played pivotal roles in producing championships this academic year. And lastly, a special thanks to on-air talent Cory Nidoh and Navy Athletics for their hard work to help produce a great four-day livestream on ESPN+ of the 2022 Patriot League Swimming & Diving Championships.”
The Patriot League on ESPN’s coverage of the 2022 Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championship was nominated for Outstanding Live Game Production along with nominees from the Mountain West Conference, Sun Belt Conference and West Athletic Conference. Patriot League Assistant Commissioner for Multimedia Jimmy Johnson served as the executive director, producer and technical director, while Patriot League on ESPN intern Braden Barker, a 2022 graduate of Kutztown University, was an assistant producer and replay operator. Cory Nidoh provided play-by-play with a production staff that included several employees from Navy Athletics.
Johnson and Trivelpiece edited and produced the League’s Outstanding Special Feature finalist “From Unspeakable Loss to MVP: Emma Groathaus’ Inspiring 2021 Season.” The touching story from the Lehigh women’s basketball standout is up against nominees from the American Athletic Conference (AAC) and the BIG EAST.
