apple: Apple may add these two devices to its Vintage Products list

Apple is set to unveil new products and operating systems in the upcoming WWDC 2022 event which is scheduled to be held on June 6. A new report by MacRumors suggests that the Cupertino-based tech giant is also planning to add two more devices to its Vintage Products list. The report claims that Apple has distributed an internal memo to Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers. As per the memo, the company has decided to add the first-generation iPad Pro and the Apple TV HD to its vintage products list at the end of June. The memo also mentioned that 32GB models of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will also be marked as vintage products along with the iPhone 4S will be classified as obsolete from next month.
Apple Vintage List: What is it?
Apple adds products to its Vintage List after more than five years have passed since the company last distributed the product for sale. Previously, the products in this list were ineligible for service at official Apple stores. However, Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers now offer repairs for vintage products for up to two more years, only if the parts are available.
Apple iPad Pro (first-gen)
The first Apple iPad Pro was released in 2015 and it features a 12.9-inch display. The display in the first Pro variant was significantly larger than the 9.7-inch display on all prior iPad models. The iPad Pro (first-gen) featured Apple’s A9X chip, an 8MP rear camera, a Home button with Touch ID, and four speakers.
Apart from this device, the company also unveiled the Smart Keyboard for iPad and the Apple Pencil to compete with rival hybrid tablets like Microsoft’s Surface. The Smart iPad Pro’s helped users to magnetically attach them with Smart Keyboard.
Apple TV HD
The company launched the Apple TV HD in October 2015 as the fourth-generation Apple TV. The product was rebranded in September 2017 after the launch of the Apple TV 4K.The Apple TV HD also came with a slightly modified Siri Remote with a white circle around the “Menu” button like the Apple TV 4K. However, it has not been more thn five years since that change took place. The report also mentions that Apple continues to sell the 32GB storage variant of the Apple TV HD and the there might have been a typo in the memo. As per the report, Apple meant to refer to the “Rev A ” edition of the third-gen Apple TV that was discontinued in 2016. Meanwhile, there are reports about the company releasing a new Apple TV in the second half of 2022.
Apple iPhone 4S
Apple’s memo also mentioned that the iPhone 4S will be classified as “obsolete” at the end of June. The company adds products to the obsolete list after it has stopped distributing these products for sale for more than seven years and are no longer eligible for hardware service (except in selected regions).
THe company announced the iPhone 4S in October 2011 and it was the first product to come with Siri. The device has a similar design as the iPhone 4 and sports a 3.5-inch display, an A5 chip, a 30-pin Dock Connector and an 8MP rear camera.
